Bio
Vocalist/Songwriter/Lyricist

Donna Greenberg is a unique and versatile artist. Her warm, sweet voice, innate musicality, dramatic flair, and sensitivity to lyrics become evident in her lively and heartfelt performances. Whether singing original material or standards, Donna captures the soul of each song. Her deep love of music shines through all that she sings and creates.
As a vocalist, songwriter, lyricist as well as a choreographer, former dancer and dance filmmaker, Donna’s earliest musical influences were jazz, opera, classical music, musical theatre, and liturgical music. After graduating from The University of Toronto with a BA in English Literature, Donna completed extensive studies in voice, piano, harmony, counterpoint, and ear training. She performed as a solo artist in numerous classical music recitals including programs in English, French, Italian, Spanish, and German as well as including gesture in her Baroque song recitals. Additionally, Donna has composed music and written lyrics for a number of vocal and choral pieces.
Donna’s first true foray into jazz was her one-woman show, “A Tribute to Gershwin, Porter and Rodgers”, which she sang, danced, and wrote. Her decision to study and perform jazz came in 2008 when she began coaching sessions with Adi Braun. Since then, Donna has worked with arranger Jordan Klapman on some of her original music, which she recorded on her debut release “Stranger”.
“Stranger” has already hit the Top 30 chart on CIUT and is currently being enjoyed by audiences throughout North America and Europe. Along with her success on the radio, Donna has enjoyed her recent return to the stage as a jazz vocalist and looks forward to sharing her unique blend of talents with audiences everywhere. As she actively pursues her dual career path of jazz vocalist and songwriter/lyricist, Donna continues to perform fresh, original material and enjoys introducing audiences to rare and unusual songs in English, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Ladino.
For the past two months, Donna has been tucked away in the studio working on her second record, “Mav’rik”. Having grown both personally and artistically since releasing “Stranger” last year, Donna took some time to do what she loves most – compose music. With arrangements by Jordan Klapman and orchestration by Tony Quarrington, Donna has selected twelve new, original songs, which best represent her artistic character at this point in her musical career. Donna’s wide range of cultural influences shines through on this record. Jazz, blues, Latin, salsa, gospel and country are a selection of musical styles that contribute to the sound Donna calls “Mav’rik”, scheduled to be released by the end of this year.
